As the Senior Manager, National Agricultural Credit, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective maintenance of a designated agricultural portfolio of loans at an acceptable level of risk, by exercising sound credit judgment in approving and recommending applications, monitoring credit quality, conditions, and collection activity, thereby ensuring loan losses are minimized.
Is this role right for you? In this role you, will:
- Report to the Director while operating in a team-based environment, you will adjudicate credit proposals from the Canadian Commercial Agricultural Banking team, while ensuring that these accounts are managed within the framework of the Credit Policy and Commercial Credit Administration Handbooks, Bank Policy, and Credit Procedure.
- Contribute to the quality of the loan portfolio by:
- Ensuring the assigned credit portfolio is efficiently maintained at an acceptable level of risk and loan losses minimized
- Providing timely and sound decision-making via analysis and adjudication of credit proposals within assigned limits (conforming to Bank Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines).
- Making credit recommendations for sign-off from the appropriate adjudication levels.
- Providing recommendations to improve the structure of marginal proposals into bankable deals, as appropriate.
- Monitoring unsatisfactory trends in risk ratings, credit conditions, overdue reporting, annual reviews, etc and initiates corrective action.
- Help develop credit competencies for Banking partners by providing appropriate and meaningful constructive feedback, coaching and direction.
- Be customer-focused and performance-oriented, demonstrating Respect, Integrity, Passion and Accountability in dealing with customers, partners and all alike.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
- Post-Secondary Education completed, preferable in Business Administration.
- Experience in Agriculture industry is considered a strong asset
- Full understanding of financial statements and cash flow analysis with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Curiosity, ability to learn and to apply newly acquired knowledge to daily tasks.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple (often shifting) priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Sound oral and written communication skills to elaborate and support credit decisions before internal stakeholders (e.g. Global Risk Management and Banking counterparts).
- Superior negotiation and problem-resolution skills to reach agreements with business line partners.
