Job Description:

  • Manage post machining department for KDT, including but not limited to:Establish and maintain safety stock levels for finished contract parts.
  • Performing visual inspection of all parts on the finishing floor
  • Tracking scrap generated on all production runs
  • Sand/buff/deburr/washing operations
  • Training staff on finishing methods and procedures and preparing SOPs where necessary
  • Creating requisitions for finishing and/or packaging material
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area
  • Initiating order close out for all KDT products
  • Maintaining warehouse stock tracker, ensuring operating system is up to date and accurate.
  • Receive, inspect, and record incoming shipments verifying the accuracy of items received against Pos and shipping documents, and mark for identification
  • Prepare and package outgoing shipments, ensuring that items are properly labeled, packed, and documented according to established procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all shipping receiving activities, including receipts, bills of lading, shipping manifests, and inventory reports.
  • Organize and maintain inventory storage areas, ensuring items are properly labeled, stored, and easily accessible.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as production, supply, and sales to prioritize shipping and receiving activities.
  • Communicate with suppliers, carriers, and freight forwarders to schedule pick-ups and deliveries, resolve any shipping or receiving discrepancies and track shipments.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks and other material handling equipment to load and unload shipments.
  • Conduct periodic inventory counts and assist in reconciling inventory discrepancies.
  • Identify and report any damaged, missing, or defective items and follow-up with appropriate actions, such as filing claims and arranging returns.
  • Maintain a clean and organized shipping/ receiving area including warehouse space.
  • Continuously assess and improve processes, systems, and procedures to drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Evaluate and select freight providers based on their capabilities, performance, and cost-effectiveness.

Skills/Requirments/Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Prior experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse management, or related fields.
  • Experience in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably in a logistics or warehouse environment considered an asset.

Leadership Skills:

  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to delegate tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey instructions clearly to team members and interact with other departments.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in using shipping and receiving software and systems.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and procedures.
  • Understanding of shipping and receiving protocols, including packaging, labeling, and documentation requirements.

Organizational Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in shipments and inventory records.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of warehouse layout and inventory management principles to optimize space and workflow.

Problem-Solving Abilities:

  • Capacity to identify issues and implement solutions to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems related to shipments, inventory discrepancies, and logistical challenges.

Customer Service Orientation:

  • Dedication to providing excellent service to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to address customer inquiries and resolve issues related to shipping and receiving activities.

Physical Stamina:

  • Capability to perform tasks involving lifting, carrying, and moving heavy objects.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Knowledge of Regulatory Requirements:

  • Understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards related to shipping, handling hazardous materials, and workplace safety.
  • Familiarity with international shipping regulations and customs procedures is advantageous.

Education:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. A degree or certification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field can be beneficial but is not always mandatory.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration:

Ability to work collaboratively with other departments such as procurement, production, and customer service to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction.
