Job description: Westridge HR, on behalf of Merit Contractors, is searching for a Site Foreman for Brant County, South Eastern Ontario.

Role Summary:

This role will require you to assist the superintendant in providing leadership and effectively controlling all work on site to ensure the project is constructed in conformity with all plans and specifications while ensuring work methods are safe, efficient, economical, and of high quality.

In this role, you will be diligent and proactive in facilitating project success, while maintaining the client first focus that has made Merit a leader in the construction industry.

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: Brant County

Compensation: Hourly wage dependent on qualifications

Benefits: Fully paid benefits package after 3-month probation period, RRSP contribution after one year of continuous employment

As the Site Foreman you will:

  • Effectively plan and carry out the work on site to ensure an efficient, expedient, and economical construction program. Such as, studying and comparing alternate methods of operation for maximum efficiency.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to the workforce and to work in harmony with the Superintendant and report collectively and independently to the Chief Operations Officer.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with plans and specifications and ensure work is carried out accordingly.
  • Supervise and or perform surveying and layout required for the construction of all portions of the project.
  • Ensure the proper completion of administrative work.
  • Enforce the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Merit’s Safety Policy as a minimum standard and facilitate a safe work culture on the jobsite.
  • Chair weekly coordination and safety committee meetings as required.

The Ideal Candidate possesses:

  • Previous experience as a foreman on projects with values up to $5 million.
  • Preferred but not required is a degree/diploma in Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, Building Sciences, Building Renovation Technology, or other similar program.
  • Reliable form of transportation
  • Preferably has completed all education and training to acquire a General Carpenter’s certificate.
  • Has completed training and possesses current certificates in First Aid & CPR, WHMIS, Working at Heights and/or other industry related safety training.
  • Experience with a general contracting company is preferred but not required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, self-motivated and organized
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Be a leader. Be consistently professional, optimistic and self-motivated.
  • Use honesty, fairness and good judgement in the interpretation of contract documents.
  • Proficiency in keeping organized and maintaining oversight of project record documentation
