Job Description

WHAT’S THE JOB?
Join our NRB Modular Solutions team, where our people are driven by a desire to innovate, do social good, and move construction forward.

The Site Superintendent, reporting to the Director, Projects or Construction Manager, is directly responsible for the operations and logistics of the work site. This position will work closely with the Project Manager, work directly with site services, manpower requirements and accommodations prior to the project commencement.

Responsibilities:

These duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Meeting with clients to provide first class service while meeting contractual needs and obligations
  • Work directly with Project Manager to integrate contract deliverables related to install
  • Coordinate subtrades and site General Contractors to ensure contractual obligations are met
  • Train employees on equipment and materials specific to the modular and construction industry
  • Develop takeoffs, material orders, implement design changes as directed by the Project Management team
  • Produce daily project status reports, manage budgets and maintain progress/completion schedules and develop reports for tracking and forecasting costs
  • Determining the overall schedule on site
  • General project management related activities
  • Holding/attending team meetings
  • Quality control and time management
  • General management of team members
  • Working with an apprentice and others to erect buildings, install airtight weather barrier, door and windows, wood siding, steel siding and roofing, interior wood paneling, window jambs, trim and baseboards, and flooring
  • Operating hand and powered construction related tools
  • Health and safety – ensuring all rules/regulations are adhered to by staff and contract workers and accident reports are completed as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education:

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Completion of related Trade Certification acquired at an accredited university or Trades College; and/or Diploma in Construction related field or demonstrated experience
  • Minimum if 8 years of multiple trades-related work experience on construction sites, in residential and commercial projects
  • Demonstrable supervisory skills and customer service abilities (communication)
  • Well-developed understanding of efficient building process and industry best practices of construction
  • Team player who enjoys working with customers and other trades, meeting challenges head on, creatively solving problems, and taking pride in their work
  • Able to manage fluctuating workloads and set project priorities, while continuing to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strong background in commercial and/or industrial HSE practices and knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Strong computer skills is a must
  • Must be able to lift 45lbs as a minimum on a regular basis
  • Keen ability and desire to learn and grow

Working Conditions:

  • Indoors and outdoors in the heat/cold, wet/dry conditions
  • Able to perform manual labor including bending, stooping, reach and carrying and lifting heavy objects
  • Walking approximately 2-4kilometers per day on a variety of surfaces
  • Access to personal vehicle (will be reimbursed for mileage)
  • Travel within Ontario, mainly centered around Greater Toronto area
