Job Description:
This position will fulfill the role of primary clinician and conduct bio-psychosocial assessments, conduct daily therapy groups (psycho-education as well as process oriented) and provide individual intervention as a way of collaboratively addressing and monitoring symptom management.
The principle responsibilities include providing mental health care to patients with complex medical and psychiatric needs, administering LOCUS, facilitating and co-facilitation psychotherapy groups, providing navigation service to assist in getting patient to the right level of care and fostering a therapeutic milieu.
Reporting to the Patient Care Manager of the Ambulatory Mental Health Services, the successful candidate will be an integral member of the inter-professional team.
Educational Requirements:
- Masters of Social Work Degree from an accredited faculty of Social Work
- Member of the Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers and in good standing
- Registered Social Worker (RSW)
- Minimum three years of clinical experience working with adults with psychiatric disorders
Qualifications:
- Strong case formulation skills required
- Solid mental health experience re: adult patients with complex psychiatric disorders
- Knowledge and experience with DBT, CBT treatment models
- Experience working effectively within an inter-professional collaboration model
- Group psychotherapy experience required and essential
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to interact with patients and their families in an empathetic manner
- Ability to be flexible and willingness to provide a variety of tasks as required for the smooth functioning of the Ambulatory Mental Health Services
- Demonstrates flexibility and adapts to change and variety on the job (e.g., effectively perform job during unexpected situations or changing conditions)
- Ability to support a model of recovery is essential
- Must possess excellent organizational, time management and critical thinking skills
- Satisfactory performance and attendance required
