Essential Duties/ Role Purpose:
- Ensure all Control & Electrical (C&E) design and equipment installations/refurbishments on the St. Gabriel site are following NFPA, NEMA, NEC, etc and Syngenta standards/ regulations
- Contribute to and ensure compliance with St. Gabriel Site’s C&E strategy
- Provide technical support and oversight to deliver the St. Gabriel Site Capital expenditure portfolio in line with business, HSE & site sustenance requirements
- Manage significant C&E engineering capital projects on the St. Gabriel Site ensuring the timely implementation of new or improved assets consistent with business requirements and within agreed cost and safety parameters
- Actively contribute to and participate in the site Instrumentation and Electrical stewardship driving key Maintenance and Engineering initiatives and supporting production requirements
- Improve asset reliability and integrity through technical support of the maintenance function for C&E assets
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Professionally and systematically guide the refinement of the preventive maintenance function on electrical systems to achieve optimization
- Ensure the application of NFPA/NEC regulatory standards and Syngenta codes of practice within the St. Gabriel site engineering/ maintenance organization
- Manage the engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover of capital projects where appointed Lead Engineer ensuring full integration of these phases and implementing effective scope control, risk management, cost, and progress reporting
- Set success criteria for the C&E department and formulate project execution strategies to ensure that the project team (e.g. the design and construction contractors and equipment suppliers) meet those criteria
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with site personnel to ensure their commitment to maintenance and project objectives, to anticipate and resolve technical difficulties and to minimize any disruptive effect of maintenance/ projects on production
- Manage C&E project engineering and design resource availability/competency in conjunction with standards owners, understand the appropriate National/ International standards and industry best practice
- In conjunction with Syngenta Responsible Engineers review site design standards in line with the appropriate National/ International standards and industry best practice for C&E functional areas. Implement suitable standards for equipment and service provision
Qualifications
Critical Knowledge
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from ABET accredited school
- Professional Engineering license/ Electrical preferred
- 10+ years of experience in a direct manufacturing Electrical Engineering role.
- Chemical/Refinery maintenance and/or project experience (maintenance preferred)
- Knowledge of applicable NFPA(NEC) and NEMA codes
- Substantial engineering knowledge and experience in specialist areas, hazardous electrical area classification, MV/ LV electrical systems, SIL, etc.
Critical Experience
- Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of engineering project delivery
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
- Member of appropriate professional body (e.g. IEEE)
- Self-motivated, responsible and team oriented individual
- Full cognizance of plant and related safety standards and procedures
