Job description: At the Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) our vision of ‘Service. Relationships. The LDB is one of two branches of government responsible for the cannabis and liquor industry of B.C. We operate the wholesale distribution of non-medical cannabis and beverage alcohol within the province, as well as the household retail brands of BC Cannabis Stores and BC Liquor Stores.

We employ nearly 5,000 people in over 200 communities and have hundreds of career opportunities spanning our entire wholesale, retail and corporate operations – from supply chain logistics, to high-tech solutions, and everything in between. The LDB has been assigned to distribute, wholesale and sell non-medicinal cannabis inclusive of a government owned online channel with a mandate to support government’s key priorities of protecting children and youth, ensuring health and safety standards, and keeping the criminal element out of the supply chain. Following legalization, the BCLDB began distribution and wholesale of cannabis, and operating BC Cannabis Stores in a growing number of locations across the province. Since 2018 the BC Cannabis Stores chain has grown to over 27 locations with more growth planned all across the province. Cannabis operations within the BCLDB includes the Distribution, Merchandising, Retail Operations, Supply Chain, and Marketing departments.ÂÂ

Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, supporting retail and e-commerce channels of the LDB, the Senior Graphic Designer is responsible for the creative development and all aspects of full production for Âdigital content (website, e-newsletters, in-store screens, advertisements, etc), collateral (in-store point of sale material including promotional event signage, shelf talkers, posters), and branded materials (window frosting, product price tags, large educational signage, social responsibility animations, etc) for the BCÂ Cannabis Stores (BCCS). Establishes and maintains corporate standards for illustration or photography, photo and illustration banks and typography guides.

Work includes image files (e.g. photography), representational sketches and final illustrations, type and assembly, graphic art, animations, juxtaposition, visual materials, layout and design for final production files for printers.

Position Requirements:

Education and Experience:

A degree or diploma in Marketing or Graphic Design and a minimum of 3 years of recent* related experience as a member of a production or publication team. A minimum of 5 years of experience in graphic layout and design supplemented by courses in Marketing/Graphic Design would be considered as an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

*Preferred qualifications include:

  • The above listed required experience within the cannabis industry. •Experience working within the Health Canada regulatory environment. •Experience working within a unionized environment. •Experience within a multi-unit retail business. •Experience with (Adobe Creative Suite, JIRA). •Experience working with Graphics on a PC computer.

*Recent is defined as experience occurring within the last 7 years.
