Job Summary
This position is to be responsible for the receiving of goods, inspection, verification, storage, control and distribution of all supplies/equipment from the following sources (stock, non-stock, Stockless, SPD) to departments throughout the organization. You are also responsible for the maintenance of the carousel and supply carts including affixing labels, keeping products and supply rooms orderly and clean, rotation of stock, checking for expired product and reporting recommendations for adjusting par levels based on ordering patterns.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure the distribution and re-ordering of supplies/equipment to the end-user departments, will include, the receiving of incoming shipments from Suppliers, Inventory, Stockless provider, SPD
- Checking carousel and carts for outdated medical/surgical supplies and replacing as necessary
- Maintaining carousel and individual carts/supply rooms to a regular state of order and cleanliness along with keeping the product specific to each corresponding location
- Conducting daily audits of delivered items and products used to ensure accuracy of ordering and receipts including looking for tags not pulled by users and placed on the LogiData boards for reordering
- Review and analyze all Business Intelligence department usage reports, in-stock percent, unit of measure and direct purchase data to assist Management to right size quotas.
- Accountable to assist Management with the reorganization and rebuilding of supply carts and storage areas based on the “Lean Six Sigma Principles” and Distribution policies and procedures
- Fielding inquiries regarding availability of products and providing the means to resolve these inquiries
- Liaison with customers and Management staff to optimize and achieve operational efficiencies for departmental supply carts
- Effectively and efficiently operate, navigate and trouble shoot inventory management systems (Carousel, LogiData, Meditech and AllScripts Pathways Materials Management) to accurately issue, credit, pick and distribute supplies from Inventory location
- Able to convey system connectivity problems properly to supervisor to diagnose problems (interface errors etc)
- Monitoring LogiD boards for proper functionallity and reporting any findings, included board reading appropriate number of tags, tags identified as unassigned, all areas on board reading tags, tags on boards for unexpected periods of time.
- Following Hospital protocol including timely response to codes and adherence to WHMIS standards
Skills & Abilities
- Minimum 2 years’ logistics experience in an inventory computerized environment is required
- Experience in a healthcare environment would be considered an asset
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and customer service skills
- Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Proficiency with equipment, computers and software, including carousel hardware
- Very good physical health, as handling of heavy items is a daily requirement
- Ability to push and pull wheeled equipment and moveable carts
- Physical demands include:
- Able to lift, push and pull heavy loads
- Repetitive light and heavy lifting
- Extensive walking throughout the shift
- Frequent standing throughout the shift
- Product knowledge of medical surgical supplies an asset.
- Pleasant manner with neat appearance as patient interaction is a part of daily function
- Ability to prioritize workload with varying deliverables
- Ability to work both within a team and independently with minimal supervision
- Must maintain confidentiality pertaining to patients and staff
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, afternoons, evening and midnight shifts.

Qualifications
- High School Graduate
- Lift Truck (forklift) training course for Class 3 – Electric Motor Hand Trucks that meets the standards laid out by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and the Ontario Ministry of Labour (one day practical and evaluation)
- Courses and training in Inventory Control, Logistics or Supply Chain Management would be an asset
- Logistics/Material Management certificate (CPIM) would be an asset
