JOB INFORMATION

This posting is for current and upcoming opportunities which may involve working night shifts with Thursday/Friday or Sunday/Monday as off days and various work reporting locations (Davisville Yard or Wilson Yard), which may vary as directed by work assignments.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Under the supervision of the Foreperson, Structure Maintenance, you will perform varied maintenance, repair and reconstruction work on bridge structures, tunnel structures, elevated guideways, retaining walls, slabs, etc.
  • Your duties will include: pressure injection grouting, external soil grouting, caulking and sealing of segmental tunnel liners, abrasive blast cleaning, concrete repairs, structural steel repairs, structural steel coating, steel reinforcement layout and placement, application of tunnel leak materials and the construction of leak control devices.
  • The work may also involve the operation of trucks, forklifts and front-end loaders. You are required to treat passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensure the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within the area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service provider and an employer.
  • The work is performed on the night shift with Thursday/Friday as off-days.
  • The general reporting location is Davisville Structure Maintenance office. Working hours are 40 hours a week.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • You will require training normally obtained through the completion of Grade 12 education (technical program) or its recognized equivalent as determined by the Training Department or its equivalent through practical experience and relevant technical knowledge in the areas of pressure injection grouting.
  • You must be able to comprehend verbal and written instructions as demonstrated by an ability to understand and follow published operating/safety regulations; effectively communicate verbally and in writing in order to exchange information and instructions with the Control Centres and personnel.
  • You require practical experience and knowledge of injection grouting and external soil grouting, application of tunnel leak materials, construction of leak control devices, abrasive blast cleaning, structural steel repairs/coating, layout/placement of reinforcing steel, use of concrete repairs to bridges and tunnels.
  • This would normally be acquired through approximately 36 months of pressure injection grouting and structural repair experience.
  • You must have a valid Class “G” Province of Ontario Driver’s License. Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
