Job Description Summary The successful candidate will join Cushman & Wakefield’s Structured Finance Group, an exciting new platform that has placed over $2 billion dollars of capital over the past 18 months in Canada. The candidate will gain experience modelling the country’s most complex and sophisticated real estate capital structures, as well as benefit from broad real estate asset class exposure, inclusive of office, retail, industrial, multi-family, hotel, self-storage, and seniors care. Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the underwriting of all materials including in financial request memorandums
- Assist with business development activities including creation of advisory and capital planning proposals as well as responding to requests for services, project analyses, etc.
- Collection and analysis of market data to support capital raises
- Due diligence reviews including detailed lease analysis, physical, financial, environmental and title documents
- Research of the relevant land use planning context to assist with the analysis of development opportunities
- Assisting in underwriting financial models inclusive of cashflow modelling, equity and debt structuring, and new development modelling using both Excel and Argus Enterprise
- Liaise with Cushman & Wakefield employees in other service lines and geographies
- Liaise with clients throughout all stages of the listing / funding process
What we are looking for:
- 2-4 years of work experience with a minimum 1-2 years of experience in real estate
- An undergraduate degree (preferably with a focus on finance, real estate or urban planning)
- Strong written communication skills (sample to be provided) as this role will involve extensive summarization of data into salient points
- Strong technology skills with solid knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Familiarity / experience with Argus Enterprise software is a MUST
- Knowledge of InDesign is an advantage
- Understanding of key real estate value drivers, risks and opportunities
- Intermediate analytical and financial modeling skills
- Ability to systematically manage a heavy workload and meet stringent deadlines
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Knowledge and interest in real estate processes, capital markets, and construction required
- Flexibility to work irregular or extended hours
- Self-starter with the ability to take direction
- Ability to distill large amounts of data into key success factors
- Financial designation such as CFA is a strong asset
