Founded in 1910 and located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Mount Royal University grew into a vibrant college in the 1930s and became a mid-sized university in 2009. About the Campus Store
Mount Royal University’s Business and Retail Services compliments the student and employee experience by providing a wide range of offerings to the University community including access to the Bookstore, Document Services, Parking and Transportation Services, Events and Conference Services, and Hospitality Services (Retail Food Service, Catering, Beverage and Snack Vending, and ATM banking).The Mount Royal University (MRU) Bookstore has taken on a new role as an educational resource centre to meet the requests and challenges of the campus community.
The MRU Campus Store has been expanding its’ line of products to enhance service and support for its customers, complimenting Mount Royal University’s core purpose “to foster the success and satisfaction of students in the pursuit of their educational goals.

About the Role
Reporting to the Manager of Retail Services, the Cougars Campus Store is looking for MRU students to work on a part-time basis throughout the academic year. This position provides key customer service and sales of a variety of products and services offered at the Cougars Campus Store. Working as a team, the ‘Student Campus Store Representative’ assist students, faculty, staff, and the general public with their needs and are responsible for delivering friendly, knowledgeable, and exceptional service in all actions and interactions at the campus store. While the bulk of hiring for this role, takes place for shifts during back-to-school, several positions will also be hired to join the team and work throughout the year including summer. Students are scheduled around their class schedule and shifts are generally 4 to 7 hours long.
Work will require medium physical exertion, visual concentration, manual dexterity and/or strain.
Responsibilities
- Cashier duties: selling items, operating a cash register and handling cash.
- Customer service: helping customers find textbooks, clothing, school supplies, and products throughout the store.
- Store Support: duties include fulfilling online orders, pricing merchandise, stocking shelves, and general cleaning.
- Events: The Cougars Campus Store often sells items at events across the MRU campus including convocation, author readings, conferences, and games.
Qualifications
- Able to multi-task in a busy environment
- Cash register experience an asset but not necessary
- Cash handling experience is an asset but not necessary
- Flexible, energetic, and customer service-oriented
- Students may be required to work Saturdays and some evenings
Salary: $15.00 Hourly
