This position reports to the Manager, Integrated Planning and Dynamic Scheduling (IPDS). This is a 4-month term, beginning in May 2021.
What you will do:
- Assist in the rollout of new mine planning software at Nutrien Potash underground mine sites
- Assist proof of concept trials of short-internal control software
- Work with Nutrien Potash sites in process change documentation
- Assist in long term mine plan reviews, feedback sessions, and compilation of technical presentations
- Involvement in the development team for in-shift decision support tools for Nutrien mine sites
- Involvement in the development team for Geohazard forecasting and assistance for data gathering at site
- Assist in Rollout of site projects under the IPDS portfolio
- Potentially visit underground work sites
What you will bring:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution in a mining engineering program and returning to full-time studies after the work term
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
- Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and presentation skills
- Motivation and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment, exhibit strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal/relationship skills – able to work and communicate with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization, written and oral
- Previous experience in a mine planning placement will be considered an asset
