Our client is a well reputed, building materials and construction manufacturer with operations across North America. The Supply Chain Manager owns all material purchasing, materials management, logistics and inventory control for the Edmonton facility. The ideal candidate has strong experience with material flow in a manufacturing setting and knows how to work with production to meet operational goals.

The Role:

  • Collaborating with the Production department to ensure proactive materials planning and procurement of goods
  • Record and assess all materials quality, movement, and expenditure
  • Lead all material cycle counts for valuated inventory, consumables, and non-valuated inventory
  • Track KPIs, and use reporting in SAP for data driven decision making that ensures targeted results
  • Ensure a safe working environment for the team
  • Supervise material flow in and out of the facility
  • Manage inbound/outbound logistics of goods arrive and are organized in an efficient manner
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and optimize materials
  • Anticipate production material needs and optimize the distribution of inventory.
  • Manage and forecast inventory levels and be proactive in resolving inventory variances
  • Manage logistics of goods
  • Create and improve current procurement strategies to reduce costs and implement just in time delivery methods
  • Adjust and evaluate min max levels of inventory
  • Manage the procurement of materials

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Post secondary education, SCMP designation or equivalent related experience
  • Prior experience in a materials management and procurement focused role with preference given for candidates with construction or manufacturing industry experience
  • Proven ability to lead and coach a high performing team
  • Experience with ERP systems, ideally SAP
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a must
