Project Overview:
The Confederation Line Extension Project – one of the components of the City of Ottawa Stage 2 O-Train system – includes the design, construction and financing of 27,5kilometres of light rail infrastructure. The scope of work also includes 4 kilometres of cut-and cover tunnels, 20 engineered structures, 16 stations and a light maintenance service facility.
When complete, Stage 2 will bring 77 percent of residents within five kilometres of rail transportation. It will greatly enhance the quality of life in Ottawa, contributing to shorter commutes, cleaner air and a stronger economy. It will also help the city prepare for continued growth, with a population that is expected to reach 1.1 million by 2031.
In April 2019, Kiewit-Eurovia-VINCI (KEV) was selected to design, build and finance the project. Construction is anticipated to be complete for the Confederation Line East extension in 2024 and in 2025 for the Confederation Line West extension.
Position purpose:
The Surveyor will be responsible for recording, maintaining and managing survey field notes and records in accordance with corporate standard operating procedures. The Surveyor will also be responsible for preparing survey data, project work records and safety documentation.
Principle Accountability and Responsibility:
- Record, maintain and manage survey field notes and records (in accordance with standard operating procedures)
- Prepare corporate documentation including survey data, project work records and safety documents
- Actively participate in corporate and client HSE Programs and corporate policies
- Develop and maintain strong client and colleague/corporate relations
- Maintain an accurate inventory record of all equipment and materials assigned
- Maintain and care for corporate vehicles (includes maintaining survey supplies and keeping the truck clean and serviceable)
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Minimum of a Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering, Master s degree favored;
- Minimum of 7 years experience in the construction industry, preferably on large infrastructure projects.
Strongly Encouraged:
- Professional Engineer certificate (P.Eng/P.E./C.Eng) or equivalent
- Previous experience in Canada or North America
Key Skills and Knowledge:
Required:
- Highly developed communication and leadership skills, both written and verbal;
- Ability to manage and lead a team, to properly delegate to a team, and to manage performance and staff planning;
- Fluent in English with professional proficiency;
- Commitment to Safety.
Strongly Encouraged:
- Fluent in French with professional proficiency;
- Organisation and Managerial skills.
