Job description: Fast Genetics is currently seeking a highly motivated person to fill the position of Swine Production Technician in their barns located in the Spiritwood area.

This position will include the following responsibilities and day-to-day functions:
-Performing specific department duties;
-Ensuring proper health, handling, and comfort of animals; ie: daily health checks;
-Carrying out daily care routines;
-Weigh, sort and move pigs;
-Ensuring feed and water systems are working properly;
-Monitor and maintain proper ventilation and temperature using automated control system;
-Performing minor maintenance tasks;
-Power washing empty pens and prepping rooms for animal entry;
-Keeping accurate records on all animals as requested; ie: pig identification;
-Working in a safe manner while performing all job duties;
-Performing other general farm duties as required.

The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications:
-Self-motivated and reliable,
-Team player;
-Outstanding organization and communication skills and demonstrates attention to detail;
-Able to manage priorities and solve problems
-Previous livestock experience;
-Share in Fast Genetics core values
-Drivers license;
-College certificate or other specialized training in agriculture or livestock husbandry with 1-2 years of experience would be an asset, but not a requirement, as on the job training is provided.

Wages range from $14.00-$19.50/hr and are based on the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Expected salary: $13 – 19.5 per hour
