Responsibilities
As a member of the psychiatric inpatient multidisciplinary team, the Therapeutic Psychiatric Assistant works with patients and other members of staff to provide safety for all clients, staff, and visitors in all program and unit activities. The Therapeutic Psychiatric Assistant assists the clients of the inpatient service in all facets of their daily living routine, provides interpersonal relation development opportunities and promotes the maintenance of a therapeutic milieu. The Therapeutic Psychiatric Assistant performs selected patient care activities, and assists in delivery of direct patient care under the supervision of Clinical Staff. In addition, the Therapeutic Psychiatric Assistant communicates behavioral observations and client responses to activities both verbally and in writing.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 plus Community College Diploma in Human Services or equivalent
- Previous experience preferred
- Current CPR certification is required
- Current St. John Ambulance First Aid course preferred
- Current certification in Non Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) is an asset
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of community resources
- Competencies in other languages preferred; French an asset

Salary Information
$21.9926 – $24.5758 Hourly
