The TMP (Thermal Mechanical Pulping) Superintendent, reporting to the Pulp Mill Manager, is responsible for the overall operation of the TMP Plant. This position is responsible for an Operations Supervisor, 12 operators, and working closely with the maintenance.
Responsibilities:
Adhere to and promote company safety and environmental policies.
Support measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Department. Manage spending to adhere to the approved budget including Materials, Manpower and Maintenance
Plan and manage operational activities for the department.
Manage mechanical systems to eliminate operating problems and improve production quality and uptime.
Use condition-based maintenance strategies to achieve
With the assistance of the Operations Supervisor, coordinate manpower requirements; resolve labour and employee issues/conflicts within the department as they arise.
Lead special projects, as required.
Review, analyze, and develop plans to optimize production, quality control, maintenance and operational reports.
Prepare routine reports as required and use PI information to monitor performance and provide feedback.
Know and apply collective agreements
Qualifications:
Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering, or other related discipline
A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a supervisory role in a maintenance or manufacturing environment.
Work experience in a Pulp and Paper environment is considered an asset.
Other combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
Engineers must be registered, or be eligible for registration, with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL).
Excellent communication and organizational skills, strong analytical and problem-solving ability, and solid project management skills are essential
The Successful candidate must be able to work evening and weekends when required
