Job description: J.D. Irving, Limited – Sawmills Division is currently seeking a motivated individual for the role of Transportation and Logistics Manager, located in Saint John, New Brunswick. Roles & Responsibilities:

• Primary contact for all volume contract negotiations
• Participate actively in annual contract negotiations with rail and trucking companies
• Key liaison with various internal and external stakeholders
• Ensure transactional functions are done correctly and efficiently
• Plan and implement new employee orientation program
• Assist with career development plans for direct reports as well as training plans
• Develop and implement KPI’s for the team
• Responsible for managing third party logistics providers
• Participate in weekly executive meetings
• Responsible for supporting the individual business units by developing measures to improve quality of service and safety
• Increase efficiency of the department and find cost effective solutions to meet or exceed current standards

Qualifications:

• Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent
• Minimum 7 years in Transportation / Logistics
• Demonstrated high level organizational skills
• Experience managing and developing direct reports
• Solid understanding of Transportation and Logistics processes
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to lead change
• Highly detailed
• Bilingualism is preferred
• Willingness to travel if required
