EY Parthenon Strategy is EY’s executive strategy practice. The team helps companies, private equity firms and governments better understand and identify their strategic objectives, assess how their current portfolio / commercial framework supports these objectives, identify what actions to take to optimize their business and to implement these actions.
The EY Parthenon Strategy team serves companies, private equity firms and governments in sectors that include Oil & Gas, Mining, Chemicals, Agriculture, Power & Utilities, Financial Services, Telecom/Media/Technology, Diversified Industrials and several others. The Canadian Practice is tightly integrated with the Global EY Parthenon organization We bring the power of our deep global and local insights and relationships and an informed, current perspective. Our strategic consulting is grounded in a technical quantitative and structured qualitative foundation.
Responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced hire to join as a Vice President in the Canadian EY Parthenon Strategy team. It will fill an integral role that involves working closely across the full breadth of EY services.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Support the EY Parthenon Strategy Leaders with building the Canadian practice
- Deliver on complex client engagements taking an active role in creating financial and technical models, analyzing & visualizing data and synthesizing materials into final deliverables
- Project manage complex assignments including taking a lead role in client relationship management when required
- Provide direction and oversight on research information to be used in financial modeling, competitive analysis, industry analysis, negotiation support and various other applications
- Support procurement activities (e.g. requests for proposals)
- Oversee and contribute to the preparation and delivery of quality documents for, and presentations to, clients and prospects
- Manage staff teams of 2-4 professionals and assume developmental responsibility for junior staff
- Manage projects, creating and implementing timelines for project deliverables. Assign and follow-up on tasks, and manage sponsor/customer expectations
- Advise clients on developing strategic opportunities by providing in-depth market, industry, competitors and customer insight
- Help companies implement strategic plans by leveraging financial and operational perspectives
- Understand the firm’s business, organizational structure and operations
- Use sound judgment and consistency in measuring results
- Collaborate with other team members in identifying and exploring potential new business opportunities; contribute to develop and maintain a healthy funnel of opportunities; contribute to expand and grow the practice through proactive introductions of the firm’s capabilities to target clients and by expanding service to existing clients.
- Contribute to increase the practice’s visibility in the marketplace by assuring its presence in key industry events, literature and discussions, especially in the Alberta region.
- Contribute to attract, develop and motivate strong talent and engaging them towards attaining clearly defined objectives.
- Espouse and model the firm’s professional values by promoting collaboration and innovation; fostering creativity; and engendering an ethical approach to conducting business.
Ideal qualifications for this position include:
- Consulting & consulting sales experience
- Relevant sector experience (Micro-economic sector analysis) and local relationships
- Engineering, Finance or Commerce undergrad (MBA an asset)
- Value creation
- Corporate and investment strategy
- Transaction evaluation
Candidates must have:
- Professional services and/or consulting engagement delivery experience with and at least 10 years of experience providing value added business advisory services for projects over lifecycle in the local market
- Undergraduate degree (Business or Engineering); MBA/Master’s degree an asset
- Professional services sales and client development experience
- Superior strategic thinking and deductive reasoning skills
- Superior analytical and negotiation skills
- Strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills
- Enthusiastic, energetic attitude and a strong leader
- Well versed technically; credible and economically knowledgeable across several sectors
- Self-motivated, proactive, entrepreneurial and with an ability to work independently and communicate directly with clients and prospects when necessary, while being collaborative enough to bring a strong contribution as a key member of the National team
- Flexibility to travel regionally or globally (COVID permitting)
