Job title: Vice President, Finance

Job description: The VP, Finance is a key member of the leadership team, playing a paramount role in
initiating, developing and executing on organizational vision and operational strategies that
will drive business results and spur growth, ensuring the Company’s financial strength and
operating efficiency. Assists the President with the day-to-day management of the business,
providing leadership, management, and vision to ensure that the business has effective
people, operational controls, and administrative and reporting procedures in place.

A typical day includes:

  • Works closely with the President and the parent company to develop the vision, core values and strategic plan required for consistent future value creation and profitable growth of the business
  • Leads a team of professionals in the Finance department
  • Establishes and leads relationships and rapport both within the organization, and externally with key stakeholders, partners, the Board and Governments
  • Focuses on the key issues and opportunities to ensure the implementation of financial strategies
  • Ensures on an ongoing basis, that the company has the necessary resources, including policies and plans, as it relates to Finance, and general operations, to carry out its business plan
  • Pushes for innovation and creativity to drive new initiatives in operation
  • Plans and directs a risk management process, which will assist the organization in managing issues and responding effectively
  • Ensures that all activities and operations are carried out in compliance with provincial and federal requirements and the operating parameters of the business
  • Develops, manages and executes on the corporate capital plan
  • Oversees the Company’s insurance protection and handles issues as they arise
  • Liaises with all lending institutions to ensure that all reporting is in compliance with loan and other agreements
  • Keeps up to date on all emerging financial issues that may affect cash management, foreign exchange, lending agreements or reporting requirements
  • Works closely with the President on initiatives that significantly affect the budget o strategic objectives of the organization
  • Provides contract management support from a financial perspective

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exceptional executive presence, business acumen and presentation skills
  • Proven leadership skills rallying a team to achieve its highest potential and then taking it to the next level
  • Proven record of developing and maintaining strong partnerships and collaborative spirit in all lines of the business
  • Keen business acumen with a proven ability to provide insightful industry leading outcomes to perpetuate growth and drive positive results
  • Strong in core competencies of collaboration, strategic thinking, problem-solving and emotional intelligence
  • A hands-on executive who is a self-starter and accomplished doer
  • A high level of personal business integrity, and the resolve to demand the same of others
  • Able to engage simultaneously with a variety of significant issues likely to impact the business or project at any given time

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Significant related executive level experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, with an MBA preferred
  • CPA Designation
  • Experience creating strategic direction for businesses, including the development of tactical details while maintaining a clear view of the big picture
  • A consummate negotiator with a track record of sponsoring highly successful projects with complex financial transactions
  • Strong track record of successful financial management
