Job description: Our client is a fast growing Canadian custom manufacturer, a leader in their space. They have recently entered into a strategic relationship with an European organization, which has opened their markets as well as added complimentary products and systems for their clients. This is the perfect time to join; integrating best practices, systems and procedures, expediting their growth in the Americas and globally.

As such, they are hiring a Vice President, Finance reporting to the President to take on a newly created role and hold full responsibility of the Finance and Accounting function. The successful incumbent will join the Executive leadership team supporting the growth strategy of the organization as it continues its expansion globally. The VP Finance will lead the transformation of this small owner-managed business including improving and standardizing processes; championing technology upgrades through an ERP implementation, improving management information decks and dashboards; and overseeing treasury and risk management.

This key role will partner with operations and the sales teams establishing KPIs and performance metrics providing valuable business intelligence insights in order to make critical decisions. Taking a hands-on approach; work closely with all aspects of a manufacturing environment. This includes “walking the shop floor” analysing job costing, WIP, inventory management and revenue recognition in order to drive improvements. In this highly customized manufacturing environment, these are key focus areas and require extensive knowledge and passion for these operations finance areas.

To be considered for this role, you will possess the following:

  • Undergrad Degree in Commerce, Finance or Business Administration coupled with a CPA designation
  • 10-15 years of progressive and relevant Finance and Accounting experience, 3-5 years in a senior leadership capacity
  • Experience from the custom manufacturing industry, with strong job costing and inventory management experience required
  • Deep experience in financial and management reporting, corporate FP&A and budgeting, building exceptional dashboards and KPI scorecards required
  • Solid ERP systems experience required
  • Experience working with growth oriented companies required, from both smaller/midsized and larger organizations preferred
  • IFRS experience, cash-flow management, hedging expertise required
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, ability to work with team members at all levels
