About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, the Ward Clerk is responsible for all clerical duties assigned in the provision of efficient and effective patient care. When necessary, the Ward Clerk is expected to be available for all shifts, including days, evening, weekends and holidays.

The duties of the Ward Clerk will be carried out in accordance with the principles and practices that guide Nova Scotia Health.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Successful completion of a recognized office administration program
  • Successful completion of Medical Terminology Course
  • Health care experience is an asset
  • Experience with time entry in HASP system is an asset
  • Expectation to obtain HASP (payroll) training, Meditech & Share training
  • Experience with community wide scheduling an asset for some units (i.e Oncology, Renal Dialysis)
  • Must have a high aptitude towards office organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and public resource skills, as well as the ability to work in harmony as a member of the interprofessional team and the nursing program
  • Must be able to use initiative and work with minimal supervision
  • Data entry and word processing experience/training in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Physical and mental capabilities to perform the duties of the position such as fine motor dexterity and adjust to varying work loads
  • Must be able to perform duties that involve lifting, bending and stretching
  • Health care experience is an asset
  • Experience with time entry in HASP system is an asset
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent Part-time, (40% FTE); 28 hours biweekly

Compensation and Incentives

$20.09 – $21.91 Hourly
