In this role, you will:
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of Babcock Canada’s Marine Warehouses in support of the Victoria In Service Support Contract (VISSC), with Teams and sites on both the East and West Coast.
- Provide optimal customer service to internal and external customers, demonstrating initiative and exercising superior judgement in a dynamic environment.
- Develop and drive continuous improvement initiatives that support the business need to enhance capabilities and increase operational effectiveness.
- Ensure the physical layout of the warehouses are optimized with high density storage capacity and efficient workflow applying Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
- Own and manage project and corporate risks as they relate to warehousing and logistics in the marine business.
- Develop and manage warehouse KPIs to ensure service level agreements are met and workforce planning is understood.
- Champion a positive Health and Safety culture throughout the warehouses ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, local and corporate safety standards.
- Maintain Babcock’s Quality Management System, ensuring process maps are current and reflect the requirements of the business.
- Support the Corporate Quality function to ensure all material processes and procedures for responsible areas conform to the requirements of ISO9001/2000 and BS5750.
- Act as a business partner, collaborating with internal stakeholders for planning/forecasting and establishing and maintaining appropriate controls to minimize the cost of inventory while improving material availability.
- Manage the activities of staff including goal setting, performance evaluations, development plans, succession planning and time management.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary and reasonable to support the business.
As our ideal candidate you bring:
- At least ten (10) years experience working in a warehouse/inventory operations environment.
- Experience in material management for major equipment or in a manufacturing environment.
- The ability to work professionally and objectively managing multiple stakeholders, providing a clear focus and consistency in approach.
- Proven project management skills including; budget forecasting, tracking and execution.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- The attributes required to champion a culture of continuous improvement and be output focussed, as you are self-driven and experienced in driving and motivating others to perform to targets.
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with subject matter experts, colleagues, and users.
- You have an understanding of risk management processes.
- You are skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- You are experienced with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Experience with either Industrial and Financial Systems (IFS) and Defence Resource Management Information System (DRMIS), would be considered an asset.
- A professional supply chain designation, such as Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) through the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) is considered an asset.
- You hold a High School Diploma or equivalent (College or University diploma an asset).
- You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
